How to: Contour Your Face | Hyperpigmentation Story

Hello Everyone!

Makeup has been a very important part of my life for the past 4 years or so (from 2011). I had to learn certain skills in order for me to cover up a very unpleasant situation I was having on my face by that time, it lasted at least 3 years.

My skin was never a burden or a problem growing up, I never knew what was like to have acne, or any random blemishes, I never got those, I always enjoyed a very clear, even and clean skin, but you know the famous quote: ''You don't know what you have until it's gone''?  Yup, I learned the hard way.

Long story short, somehow for some reason, my skin got intoxicated, I don't even know what exactly happened but I suddenly started noticing very, VERY dark spots in my face, at first it was ''tolerable'', but it took power and in a very short period of time my face looked like if I had dark maps on it, as you could imagine, I was very annoyed and I started to feel something I never experienced which was being self conscious and ashamed by the way I looked.  Before all that I barely used makeup back in that time, I rarely used foundation and it became my secret weapon, I learned how to apply coats and coats and coats of it in my mission to cover all those stuff.  I never wanted to be in public, I didn't like pictures, I would never go out of my house without at least 2 coats of foundation and concealer (sometimes you could still see them), when I had to be with a lot of people I got anxious, I thought all they were looking at was at my hyperpigmentation, I became not as social as I used to be and it was a very disturbing time for me.

I tried all the face masks, all the serums, whitening creams, strong sunscreens, the expensive doctors appointments, took vitamins and I took care of my face like no one alive!!. I did so many stuff to it that I don't even know what exactly was the thing that helped me get rid of them, all I know is that it lasted years.

In the mean time I learned so much about makeup because it was something I needed on my daily basis, my relationship with makeup was more personal than shallow so I started loving it, I had my own makeup collection (a decent one) and even though I am not a makeup artist in any shape or form I understand I have some skills that helped me through that time, that I enjoy pretty much today and for that, I'm really thankful.

I know this was like the longest intro ever but I really wanted to get candid with you guys and share something only a few people know about me. This is why I started to take care of my face, my skin and of course the reason why I started to see makeup with a different meaning.

Today I want to show you how I contour and highlight my face, you won't be noticing any hyperpigmentation because thank God, it's 98% gone. Hope you can find this post helpful specially if you have any skin condition on your face like hyperpigmentation, acne.. etc.

Let me know your story in the comments and of course what's your contouring routine?

Tons of love.
